Potent antibiotic activity. It shows superior activity on gram-negative, gram-positive, anaerobic and intracellular microorganisms (E. Coli and other enterobacteria, Pseudomona aeruginosa, Pasteurella spp., Bordetella bronchiseptica, Staphylococcus spp., Mycoplasma, Chlamydia/Chlamydophila spp).
It interferes in the bacterial DNA synthesis, inhibiting two important enzymes:
Topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase): responsible for the relaxation of supercoiled DNA during transcription.
Topoisomerase IV: it intervenes in the separation of chromosomal DNA during cell division.

Levofloxacin 5 g

dosage and administration
Dogs: 7.5 mg of levofloxacin per kg of body weight, equivalent to 1.5 mL every 10 kg of body weight every 24 hours. The peak concentration is reached 2 hours post–administration. Bioavailability of 90% and wide tissue distribution due to its liposolubility. Treatment duration will depend on the disease and the physician's indication.
contraindications
Contraindicated in animals with hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones. Do not administer in pregnant or lactating bitches.
